Appearing at: The Center Stage Theater…. Friday & Saturday, January 9 & 10, at 7:30 P.M.
Enjoy an evening of music from the 1950’s and 60’s when the Performing Arts and Music classes of the Anacapa School present ‘SOCKHOP’ at the Center Stage Theater.
“Many Americans saw the 1950’s as a time when ‘everything was right’ in America. When most people think of the 50’s, they think of fun. Hoola Hoops and hooped skirts, rock ‘n’ roll, doin’ the stroll, duck tails, drive-ins, seeing how many people would fit in a phone booth and every other harmless bit of behavior that was popular at the time.”1
Parents back in 50’s disapproved of Rock ‘n’ Roll, calling it ‘devil music’, but the youth couldn’t get enough of it. This new music influenced daily life, fashion, attitudes, and language in a way few other social developments have. Rock ‘n’ Roll also set the stage for what was to come in the 1960’s.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the fun and nostalgia of ‘The Era of Rock ‘n’ Roll’ when the Performing Arts and Music classes of the Anacapa School present SOCKHOP at the Center Stage Theater January 9th and 10th.
