The Santa Barbara Dance Institute presents Ten Years, Ten Lessons, a celebration of their Ten Year Anniversary.
SBDI was founded in 2005 with the mission to “help children develop discipline, a standard of excellence, and a belief in themselves that will carry over into all aspects of their lives.” SBDI uses dance as a vehicle to teach valuable life lessons: that energy, discipline, hard work, commitment, and joyful concentration lead to success.
In keeping with that theme, this year’s performance, Ten Years, Ten Lessons, is a “joyful and thoughtful reflection on the lessons learned over these past years. Lessons such as: “Focus on the Journey, Not the Destination”, “Believe in Your-self”, “Take a Stand” and “Anything is Possible” are illustrated through energetic dancing and inspirational quotations.” (SBDI) For many children, dancing with SBDI is a life-changing event.
The Santa Barbara Dance Institute’s full-year programs have served more than 2,200 children and been seen by over 10,000 audience members.
Their performances consistently receive rave reviews, like this one from Rod Lathim, a fifth generation Santa Barbaran. He says: “I am impressed and excited by the abundance of vibrant joy, self-esteem, and spirit, exuded by the young dancers of SBDI. Watching them perform gives me great hope for the youth in our community. Bravo to Rosalina for her visionary leaderships and talents.”
Kelly, SSEF President said, “The audience is always impressed with how much the children have learned and how happy and confident they all appear. One parent said that she has never seen so many smiling faces and could feel the pride oozing from the dancers.”
Come out and support the young performers of our community at The Santa Barbara Dance Institute’s 10th Anniversary performance at the Lobero Theatre on May 3.
