Aerosmith remains the best-selling American rock band of all time. Their current “Blue Army Tour 2015” has been called “a well-timed victory lap” by, because lead singer Steven Tyler will leave the group to pursue a solo country music career at the end of the tour.

Aerospace was formed in Boston, Mass. in 1970 and, periodically during the last 45 years, has been referred to as “the Bad Boys from Boston”. All of the members were originally from the south shore of Boston and held their first concert in the Miscoe Hill School gymnasium in Mendon, Mass. That first concert was arranged with the help of Joe Perry’s mother who worked in the school system at the time.

“In their early years, they could have made a lot more money as a cover band, as club owners preferred acts that played recognizable hits. They were determined to play their own material, however, and took lots of high school dances and other low paying gigs while they built an audience and developed their repertoire. They were very tight for cash in those (early) days,” reports

It was back in the mid 1960’s in New Hampshire, at a rustic vacation camp that his family owned near Lake Sunapee, that Steven Tyler first developed his interest in showbiz. On weekends he would perform “skits” on a makeshift stage in a barn for family & friends. In an interview with Oprah, Tyler describes growing up “with the smell of the lake and the feeling of the woods.” Tyler refers to country music as his “first love” and says the Everly Bros. were his favorite artists growing up.

Today Tyler has a country hideaway on Lake Sunapee, where he spoke to Oprah about the "magical" quality of the surroundings: the lake, the pine trees, the hidden paths, and moss-covered stones. It was here that Tyler says he wrote much of his autobiography, released in 2011, Does the Noise in my Head Bother You?

When Tyler leaves Aerosmith at the close of the “Blue Army Tour 2015”, he will resume work on his first solo album as a country singer. It is scheduled to be released in the fall.

The July 7th concert by Aerosmith at the Santa Barbara Bowl offers followers, and newcomers alike, the opportunity to see this iconic band perform together one last time. Don’t miss it.
